1. Spielberg's WAR OF THE WORLDS - this movie has several depictions of what happens to human nature in the face of extreme hardship and fear, and also of how the fabric of society holds (or not) under the pressure and chaos of "The Decline of Western Civilization" (page 48 in the book). Chapters 9 & 17, in particular, highlight society's reaction to the circumstances of war.
